Readings

This work records my reading of seminal texts by typing a chosen work in its entirety onto a single page. The inevitable result of this methodology is the formation of a dense screen, each text resulting in a singular shape and tone. In this exercise the reader/typist becomes a medium in the creation of form, echoing Roland Barthes assertion that every reader creates their own text. In the case of the Metamorphosis, this typed piece, derived from Kafka’s novella, was then scanned and enlarged to create a silkscreen print - a further metamorphosis.
